A day in the trench

“Silent Night Holy Night All Is Calm All Is Bright!” the German Soldiers started singing along with the British following until the song was finished. We are all being given out parcels now, I'll write soon! I opened my parcel, it was from Rose, she sent me a lovely picture, a letter some art supplies, some colour film for my camera (boy that must of cost Rose a fortune!) and a chocolate bar. Anyway I have to go now I'll write soon!

Merry Christmas diary! I think I should try make a truce with the Germans now, after all it is Christmas, I don't know if I can trust them based on what the sergeants say about them. I'll see you soon I hope…

It worked! I can't believe it! I met this amazing guy named Otto, he was a German but cooler than most blokes I know! I don't want to fight any more, not with Otto anyway… I met most of the German soldiers in a game of football. Some blokes gave each other haircuts, played cards, we took photos and swapped gifts as well as shoulder badges and some people even swapped hats! I didn't tell Otto this but I swapped my chocolate from Rose for his biscuit, I hope he doesn't mind and he likes it! I just want to go home
